Ecuador: Compliance and Regulation Guide
Explore Ecuador’s electronic invoicing, immediate document transmission, transaction reporting and connected tax compliance requirements.
A Structured Electronic Tax Framework
Electronic Documents and Immediate SRI Transmission
Ecuador has built its digital tax model around electronic documents generated, electronically signed and transmitted to the Servicio de Rentas Internas for authorization. Since 1 January 2026, sales documents, withholding receipts and complementary documents must be transmitted immediately to the SRI. Electronic invoicing remains the central component, but companies must also manage related documents and reporting obligations across their finance, tax and operational processes.
Connected Reporting Across Tax, Finance and Logistics
Ecuador combines electronic invoicing with ATS reporting, withholding receipts and complementary documents such as the guía de remisión. These obligations draw information from different areas of the business, requiring consistent invoice records, tax classifications, withholding data and goods movement details across accounting, ERP and logistics systems.
Ecuador eCompliance Regulations
Ecuador Electronic Invoicing
Electronic invoicing is the foundation of Ecuador’s digital tax model. Businesses in scope must generate compliant documents, apply an electronic signature and transmit them to the SRI for authorization. Since 1 January 2026, electronic sales documents must be sent immediately, increasing the importance of reliable invoice generation, system availability and accurate tax information across ERP and finance processes.

Ecuador ATS Transaction Reporting
The Anexo Transaccional Simplificado is a transactional tax report for taxpayers required to submit it. It includes information related to purchases, sales, VAT and withholding activity, giving the SRI structured visibility over relevant business transactions. Companies subject to ATS need to keep the report consistent with invoices, withholding records and the tax information maintained in their accounting or ERP systems.

Ecuador Electronic Guía de Remisión
The guía de remisión is a complementary tax document used to support and document the movement of goods in Ecuador. It provides traceability for transfers linked to logistics, distribution and inventory operations and must be managed separately from the commercial invoice. Since 2026, electronic complementary documents are also subject to immediate transmission to the SRI.

Ecuador Electronic Withholding Receipts
Electronic withholding receipts document the tax amounts withheld by businesses acting as withholding agents. These documents must be generated in the required electronic format, signed and transmitted to the SRI, with immediate submission applying from 1 January 2026. Accurate links between withholding receipts, supplier invoices and accounting records are essential for tax reconciliation and recurring compliance.

Managing Ecuador eCompliance with a Trusted SAP Partner
Ecuador’s electronic tax model requires companies to coordinate invoice generation, electronic signatures, immediate SRI transmission, ATS reporting, withholding documents and goods movement records across finance, tax, ERP and logistics systems. The challenge is not only meeting each individual requirement but maintaining reliable data and stable processes across the wider business architecture.
Code10 helps organizations assess the most appropriate implementation path for their SAP landscape, using SAP standard capabilities such as SAP Document and Reporting Compliance where suitable, our eCompliance Hub, dedicated integration services and trusted local partners when required. When standard functionality does not fully cover a specific Ecuadorian obligation, we design complementary solutions that close the gap while keeping the architecture maintainable, scalable and aligned with operational needs.
