Managing Intra-EU Goods Reporting through Intrastat-SK

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Slovakia Intrastat Reporting?

Intrastat-SK is Slovakia’s statistical reporting system for trade in goods with other EU Member States. It collects monthly information on goods imported into Slovakia from the EU and goods exported from Slovakia to other Member States.

It is separate from VAT reporting and e-invoicing. Its purpose is to produce official intra-EU trade statistics based on detailed goods movement data.

Which companies need to submit Slovakia Intrastat reports?

The obligation applies separately to intra-EU imports and exports once the relevant exemption threshold is exceeded. A company may therefore be required to report one flow, both flows or neither.

The obligation can also arise during the year. If cumulative intra-EU trade exceeds the applicable threshold from 1 January 2026, reporting begins from the month in which the threshold is exceeded.

What Intrastat thresholds apply in Slovakia for 2026?

For 2026, the general exemption threshold is EUR 1,000,000 for both intra-EU imports and exports.

For businesses in specified agriculture and food-related sectors, lower thresholds apply: EUR 200,000 for imports and EUR 400,000 for exports.

The 2026 obligation is initially assessed using trade values from 1 October 2024 to 30 September 2025. Each flow is monitored separately, and companies that exceed the applicable cumulative threshold during 2026 become subject to reporting from the month of exceedance.

When and how is Slovakia Intrastat submitted?

Intrastat-SK reports are submitted monthly by the 15th calendar day after the end of the reference period. If the deadline falls on a weekend or public holiday, it moves to the next working day.

Reports must be filed electronically. Reports are submitted through the INTRASTAT-SK portal operated by the Financial Administration, either by completing them online or by uploading XML generated by compatible commercial or internally developed software.

Is Slovakia Intrastat the same as the EC Sales List or VAT Control Statement?

No. Intrastat-SK is a statistical report on intra-EU trade in goods. The EC Sales List is a VAT recapitulative statement for qualifying EU transactions, while the VAT Control Statement reports detailed VAT transaction data.

Although the three obligations may rely on overlapping invoice, customer and logistics data, they remain separate reporting processes.

How should companies manage Slovakia Intrastat Reporting in SAP or ERP systems?

Companies should review commodity codes, country mappings, transaction types, quantities, values and partner information across logistics and finance systems.

In SAP or ERP environments, the main priorities are reliable master data, consistent goods movement records, threshold monitoring and automated generation of the required XML reports.
